Executive Committee

The Executive Committee provides strategic leadership and ensures that the SAMTIC project delivers on its academic, developmental, and institutional goals. Comprised of senior academics from partner universities, the committee oversees key decisions, guides project implementation, and ensures the long-term sustainability of outcomes. Their collective expertise in music education, technology, research, and international collaboration strengthens the project’s direction and supports its commitment to advancing digital music training across South Africa.

Prof Karendra Devroop – Tshwane University of Technology

Prof. Devroop is an established leader in music education and digital innovation, serving as the SAMTIC Project Coordinator. He oversees project direction, international partnerships, and the strategic development of South Africa’s first HEI-based professional teaching and production studio.

Prof Toni Hinterholzinger – Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg

Prof. Hinterholzinger brings extensive expertise in digital music technology and AI-driven pedagogy. He leads the European training component, supporting skills development and curriculum enhancement across South African partner institutions.

Prof Hristo Karagyozov – University of Sofia

Prof. Karagyozov is a specialist in music technology and multimedia education, guiding curriculum renewal and collaborative research initiatives within the consortium. His institution contributes advanced training resources and academic support.

Prof Mageshen Naidoo – University of Pretoria

Prof. Naidoo is an internationally recognised musician and educator whose work bridges performance, production, and scholarly research. He offers strategic input into curriculum development and creative outputs for the project.

Dr Cara Stacey – University of the Witwatersrand

Dr. Stacey is a respected researcher, performer, and educator with expertise in contemporary music practices and cross-cultural collaboration. She contributes to the project’s creative, research, and academic quality components.

Dr Chris Jeffrey – University of South Africa

Dr. Jeffrey is an experienced music educator and academic coordinator committed to expanding digital access and pedagogical innovation at Unisa. He supports project integration across distance learning environments and studio development.

Monitoring Committee

The Monitoring Committee plays a vital role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and quality across all phases of the SAMTIC project. This committee oversees progress, evaluates deliverables, and ensures compliance with ERASMUS+ guidelines and institutional expectations. Through regular reporting, review processes, and collaborative oversight, the committee helps maintain high standards and supports the successful implementation of project activities across partner universities.

Prof Nalini Moodley – Tshwane University of Technology

Prof. Moodley provides oversight and quality assurance for SAMTIC’s South African implementation. She ensures that project activities align with institutional standards, reporting requirements, and long-term capacity-building goals.

Prof Maren Wilhelm – Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg

Prof. Wilhelm contributes expertise in academic management and international programme evaluation. She supports the monitoring of project milestones, training outcomes, and compliance with ERASMUS+ guidelines.

Prof M. Zamfirov – University of Sofia

Prof. Zamfirov brings extensive experience in curriculum development and project evaluation. He oversees progress monitoring, assists with academic review processes, and ensures consistency across collaborative EU–SA activities.
